Sunday 25 October Our friends at Canterbury Off Road Racing Club (CORC) are looking for volunteers to help marshal their endurance race at the West Melton off-road racing track. This is something a bit different from our usual club trips and a good opportunity to support another off-road club. You'll be stationed at one of the checkpoints around the course, watching the racing, keeping an eye on your section, and communicating with race control if needed. CORC needs at least 12 marshals, with two people per checkpoint preferred, although one is acceptable. The day starts with a marshal briefing at 8:00am, so you'll need to arrive by 7:45am. It will be a full day, so bring your own food and drinks.  Meeting Point Canterbury Off Road Racing Track car park Weedons Ross Road (north end, near the river) If you're interested in helping out, please let us know and we'll pass the numbers on to CORC. It's a good chance to see off-road racing from the other side of the fence and support a club that shares our passion for four-wheel driving.

Saturday 5 December 2026 Location: Mount Thomas Road, North Canterbury Who: Current members, past members, families and friends   50 Years of Christchurch 4WD Club Back in 1975, the club started out as Quadrive. Legend has it that it all began because the local Rover club wouldn't let a mate join their trips in his Landcruiser. In October 1976, the Christchurch Four Wheel Drive Club was officially formed. Fifty years later, after countless trips, river crossings, recoveries, broken trucks and plenty of good times, we're still going strong. To mark the club's 50th anniversary, we're getting together for a BBQ, a catch-up with old friends and a look back at the club's history. All current and past members, along with their families, are welcome. If you know any former members, please pass the invitation on.   Location and Directions Saturday 5 December 2026 At the very end of Mount Thomas Road. Go through the gate, do not go up to the house, and follow the farmer's road all the way to the end. Toilet facilities will be available on site.   BBQ and Food The club will provide the meat, paper plates and cutlery. Please bring: A salad or dessert to share Your own drinks for the afternoon and evening A camp chair We won't be able to cater for every dietary requirement. If you're bringing a gluten-free or dairy-free dish, please label it clearly.   Overnight Camping You're welcome to stay overnight. There is no charge for camping, and tents, caravans and campers are all welcome. For those staying overnight, the club will put on a bacon and egg breakfast on Sunday morning.   Club History – Photos and Videos We'll have a digital slideshow running during the celebration, looking back at 50 years of club trips, trucks and members. If you've got old photos or videos from the Quadrive days, early Christchurch 4WD Club trips, or more recent adventures, we'd like to include them. The T-shirts and hoodies feature the club logo on the front left chest and a special 50th anniversary design across the back. Polo shirts feature the classic club logo on the front. Anniversary mugs are also available. Prices: T-Shirt – $53 Hoodie – $96 Polo Shirt – $34 Engraved Mug – $25 Clothing sizes range from S to 5XL, subject to availability. Orders and payments must be completed by 15 November 2026 to allow time for delivery before the celebration.
