Harper River – Hamilton Hut Saturday 12 September Trip Leader: Godfrey Trip Grade: 3+ Meeting Point: 10:00am at the intersection of Homestead Road and Algidus Road, Lake Coleridge. This trip will head up the Harper River toward Hamilton Hut. The main purpose of the trip is to spread the ashes of Graham Pullman, a well-respected club member and friend to many in the 4WD community. Godfrey has been coordinating with former club members and other clubs, so we may end up with quite a large convoy. The Harper is generally a straightforward drive, but there are a few larger boulders in the river that have a habit of catching people out. Requirements Snorkel recommended Recovery gear required Suitable recovery points front and rear Plan We'll make our way up the Harper River to the Hamilton Hut area where we will gather to remember Graham and spread his ashes. Afterwards we'll head back out the river. Overnight Option For those wanting to make a weekend of it, the plan is to head into the Avoca River for camping on Saturday night and then drive out on Sunday. Sunday 25 October Our friends at Canterbury Off Road Racing Club (CORC) are looking for volunteers to help marshal their endurance race at the West Melton off-road racing track. This is something a bit different from our usual club trips and a good opportunity to support another off-road club. You'll be stationed at one of the checkpoints around the course, watching the racing, keeping an eye on your section, and communicating with race control if needed. CORC needs at least 12 marshals, with two people per checkpoint preferred, although one is acceptable. The day starts with a marshal briefing at 8:00am, so you'll need to arrive by 7:45am. It will be a full day, so bring your own food and drinks.  Meeting Point Canterbury Off Road Racing Track car park Weedons Ross Road (north end, near the river) If you're interested in helping out, please let us know and we'll pass the numbers on to CORC. It's a good chance to see off-road racing from the other side of the fence and support a club that shares our passion for four-wheel driving.
