"For me 4WDing is about 3 things. 1. Going somewhere that you can't just drive a car. 2. The people you're with. 3. Learning about the place you're in."
Graham Pullman
Christchurch 4WD Club exists to help ordinary people safely explore New Zealand's back country, develop practical four-wheel driving skills, and enjoy the company of others who appreciate the same places. We look after access, respect the people who own and manage the land, and leave places in a condition that others can enjoy after us.
Originally formed in 1973 as the Quad Drive Club, the Christchurch Four Wheel Drive Club has been exploring Canterbury and the South Island back country ever since.
The club runs day trips, weekend trips and the odd longer holiday mission throughout the year. Some are suitable for standard four-wheel drives, while others need a winch, a snorkel and a bit more vehicle preparation.
Not every trip goes according to plan. Rivers rise, tracks change, trucks get stuck and the occasional detour becomes part of the day. That's just four-wheel driving.
If you'd like to see whether the clud's your kind of people, come along to a meeting or join us on a couple of trips.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Garden Bar at the Cashmere Club.
Come along, have a beer if you want one, and see what you think. No obligation to join. No hard sell.
